Claire devised "ClarityIsJustSoHip!" in late 2015 when she learned she has MGUS, a marker for multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer affecting bone marrow. The diagnosis created such chaos in Claire's life that she needed additional support to stabilize a life spiraling out of control. She used each step, along with her Buddhist practice, in a wash, rinse, repeat cycle until her emotional state settled. Using this system daily helped pull Claire back from the edge of despair during those early years.

 

When Claire was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in 2023, she utilized her Buddhist chant and “ClarityIsJustSoHip!” to bring her back from the brink after being told she had a 50% chance of paralysis. However, soon after surgery, her legs moved. A doctor told her she was in the one percent to walk again after such surgery.

 

Now recently diagnosed with smoldering multiple myeloma, "ClarityIsJustSoHip!" is a significant part of Claire's emotional wellness toolkit as she reflects on her new life as an immunocompromised disabled person.
