Bridging Gaps From the Past to the Present and to the Future

Slideshow: About
Art & Mind
"Art & Mind" uses our virtual platform to enable people who are homebound, disabled, or agoraphobic to participate in our programming. "Art & Mind" focuses on storytelling and creativity through awareness, education, and inclusivity. We are using this platform to create the Sistas Uprising Fund, where 100% of proceeds raised alongside this event will become grants for marginalized creatives.
About Brain Arts Org
BAO envisions "a society that values artists of all backgrounds and empowers them to build and sustain meaningful, cohesive, communities."
Through documentaries, short films, and speaking engagements by mental health professionals and disability activists, we highlight the art and beautiful creations of marginalized women and marginalized genders (WOC, LGBT+, disabled folks, etc.). Our hope is to create a physical and accessible space in the future.

Our first show, "Reflections of Women, Femmes and Our Mental Health During COVID

Our first show in 2021, “Reflections of Women, Femmes and Our Mental Health During COVID” focused on the stories of eight women-identifying creatives and showcased femme disability speaker Roxy Murray, and trans-femme musician Mya Byrne. Our documentary discussed how each artist faced severe hardship and discrimination during the pandemic. We utilized only scouting for this event.
Through GiveButter.Com, we raised $750 for Boston based non-profit, Brain Arts Org.

The text is in a handdrawn vertical rectangle. Surrounding the rectangle are gorgeous vines leaves and pink flowers weaved around the box. Inside is this text, stating the project initiative:
“Our goal is to provide a platform for women/femmes struggling with mental health/illness who are triumphant. We want to see art and creative pieces highlighting your experiences, or a woman/femme whose experiences have inspired you, and how you've handled them before or during the pandemic through any medium.
We're featuring stories highlighting the disparities women/femmes face from all walks of life while uplifting other women/femmes, giving them hope. In turn, we hope these stories will encourage women/femmes to take the next step forward to take charge in their lives, stand up for others who are struggling, and advocate for change.
How can your story positively impact others?”
